Dynasty | The Patriots will release wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Dynasty Analysis: Diggs had a decent season coming off a torn ACL, as he posted 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in his lone season with the Patriots. Unfortunately, the combination of a $26.5 million cap hit for next season combined with accusations of criminal charges stemming from an altercation with his chef made his tenure with New England pretty quick. Diggs will resurface as a solid option for someone next year but his legal issues may keep him hanging in free agency for a while. Diggs' dynasty value is sinking as he's now 32 and will be in search of his third team in as many seasons.

Mar 4 3:50pm ET

The New England Patriots informed four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs that they are releasing him after the start of the new league year next week, sources told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. The Patriots will not have to pay Diggs the $6 million option in his contract that was set to become fully guaranteed next Friday. The 32-year-old veteran was New England's top wideout and helped the Patriots get back to the Super Bowl, where they ultimately lost to the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards (his seventh 1,000-yard season) and four touchdowns in 17 regular-season games in his only season with the team. The former fifth-rounder of the Minnesota Vikings in 2015 out of Maryland still has plenty left in the tank, but his new home may not afford him WR1 targets. Meanwhile, the Pats could be setting things up to try to acquire pass-catcher A.J. Brown from the Eagles.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs has been informed he will be released by the team after the start of the new league year.

Fantasy Spin: Diggs showed flashes that he can still be productive in 2025. In the right offense, he could be a flex or WR3 option for the 2026 season.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs could be a cut candidate if he and the team cannot agree to a contract restructure, according to The Athletic's Chad Graff.

Fantasy Spin: Diggs has been around the league in recent years but is coming off one of the more productive seasons in recent memory. Diggs may not be a team's WR1, which affects his fantasy value, but whether he stays in New England or elsewhere he can be a flex play in 2026.

Feb 27 10:30am ET

The Athletic's Chad Graff writes that the New England Patriots "will make a call soon" on wide receiver Stefon Diggs' future, and it could mean cutting the 32-year-old veteran or restructuring his contract as early as next week. Diggs is set to carry a $26.5 million salary cap hit this year, and his contract guarantees him $6 million if he's on the roster on March 13. New England is in a tough position, as Diggs became the first Patriots receiver in six years to top 1,000 receiving yards in a season, and it would be counterproductive for quarterback Drake Maye if the team were to cut their best WR. A league source expects the Pats to cut Diggs, unless they're able to "dramatically lower his cap hit with a reworked contract." If the Patriots do cut Diggs, Graff expects them to look at Mike Evans or Alec Pierce (if he's available). The other free-agent options at WR are not great.

Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown notched his fourth consecutive season with 100+ receptions and 1,100+ receiving yards in 2025. St. Brown joins Marvin Harrison, Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Stefon Diggs as the only receivers to achieve those benchmarks in at least four straight seasons.

Fantasy Spin: St. Brown was his typical clockwork-like self in 2025, finishing the campaign as WR3 in fantasy football behind Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. New offensive coordinator Drew Petzing enters in 2026, but the Lions' offense, led by Jared Goff, shouldn't change too drastically. As long as St. Brown is healthy, you can pencil him in for 100+ receptions and 1,100+ yards, making him a bankable first-round pick in all fantasy formats in 2026.

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs pleaded not guilty on Friday to felony strangulation and other criminal charges stemming from an alleged dispute with his personal chef, according to ESPN. According to court records, the chef told officers that she and Diggs argued about the money he owed her for her work. During a Dec. 2 encounter at his home, she said Diggs "smacked her across the face" and "tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck." Diggs' attorney said he "categorically denies these allegations." "He is completely innocent. He will be completely exonerated," Diggs' attorney, Mitchell Schuster, said. The 32-year-old wideout is next scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing on April 1. In his first year in New England in 2025, Diggs helped the Pats reach the Super Bowl, finishing the regular season as the WR18 in half-PPR scoring with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He should be one of quarterback Drake Maye's top targets again in 2026.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs pleaded not guilty Friday, Feb. 13, to felony strangulation and other criminal charges stemming from an alleged dispute with his personal chef.

Fantasy Spin: Diggs had a comeback season with a 85-1,013-4 line that ranked him the WR16 in PPR leagues. He turns 33 in November and will be a WR3 in drafts with some regression potential. This situation could ultimately cost him some games as well.

Feb 9 11:30pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs caught all three of his targets for 37 yards during Sunday's Super Bowl LX loss against the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs produced every time the ball was thrown his way, but he didn't quite live up to his expectations as New England's No. 1 receiver. Although it was a tough game for the Patriots' wide receivers all around, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas started to produce in the second half, and the two ultimately combined for nine catches, 123 yards, and a touchdown. Diggs had an up-and-down regular season, but it should be chalked up to a success given that he had 85 catches, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns. The veteran's contract is designed to give the Patriots a potential out this offseason, but if New England chooses to bring him back, he'll remain a top-25 wide receiver in 2026 fantasy football drafts.

Feb 9 2:33pm ET

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs said he expects to return to the team next season, but the team will have control of his future with the organization.

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players can monitor the situation because the Patriots can save $16.8 million in salary cap space if they let Diggs go this offseason. He finished the regular season with 1,013 yards and had a solid connection with Drake Maye. He can be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues if he remains with the Patriots.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 27 of his 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. Maye was also sacked six times and lost a fumble while gaining 35 rushing yards on five carries. RB Rhamondre Stevenson managed 23 rushing yards on seven carries and caught five passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. RB TreVeyon Henderson was held to 19 yards on six carries and caught three passes for 26 yards. WR Mack Hollins was a bright spot for the offense, catching four passes for a team-high 78 yards and a touchdown. WR DeMario Douglas added five catches for 45 yards, and WR Stefon Diggs finished with three catches for 37 yards. TE Hunter Henry caught three passes for 31 yards, and WR Kayshon Boutte caught one pass for 31 yards. S Craig Woodson finished with a team-high 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, and CB Marcus Jones joined him with seven solo stops. DT Milton Williams recorded three tackles, including two tackles for loss, and a sack.

Feb 7 10:50am ET

Across 17 games in the 2025 regular season, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on 102 targets. However, the 32-year-old has not been quite as productive across three postseason contests, hauling in 11 catches for 73 yards and a score on 17 targets. In Super Bowl LX, Diggs is now facing a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks defense. Seattle finished the regular season ranked first among NFL defenses in yards per pass attempt allowed (6.0) and tied for seventh in passing touchdowns allowed (20). Diggs also faces playing time questions. New England has been judicious with his snap count throughout his first season with the team, and Diggs played just 47% of the Patriots' offensive snaps in the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. Between the matchup and his relatively limited production ceiling, Diggs may be a tough wide receiver for DFS fantasy managers to trust on Sunday.

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs recorded a team-high five receptions on six targets in the AFC Championship Game, but was held to just 17 receiving yards in a win over the Denver Broncos. In fairness to Diggs, there was very little pass-game success for any player on either team in the snowy conditions in Denver on Sunday. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye finished the game with just 86 passing yards on 21 attempts. Still, Diggs has had a relatively quiet postseason so far, recording 11 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown on 17 targets across three games played. He also played just 47% of New England's offensive snaps against Denver, fewer than fellow Patriots wideouts Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte. Diggs will face another tough matchup in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks, who finished the regular season ranked first in the NFL in yards per pass attempt allowed (6.0). The veteran wide receiver should get his chances to contribute, but his production ceiling appears to be somewhat limited heading into the Super Bowl.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye went 10-for-21 for 86 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game. Maye also rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. RB Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 71 yards on 25 carries, while RB TreVeyon Henderson rushed for five yards on three carries. WR Mack Hollins caught two passes for 51 yards on two targets, WR Stefon Diggs caught five passes for 17 yards on six targets, TE Hunter Henry caught two passes for 12 yards on three targets and WR Kayshon Boutte caught one pass for six yards on six targets.

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs will be faced with a challenging matchup against the hosting Denver Broncos and star cornerback Patrick Surtain II in the AFC Championship this Sunday. Diggs has had modest production in two playoff games this year, catching six of 11 targets for 56 yards, but he did manage to find the end zone in last weekend's Divisional Round victory over a tough Houston Texans defense. During 17 regular-season games, Diggs ranked 26th among WRs with 102 targets and 29th in half-PPR points per game (9.9). The 32-year-old relied on efficiency (11.9 yards per catch and 68.7% catch rate) over volume in his first year in New England. Diggs scored just four times during the regular season, and he'll be facing a lockdown Denver defense that allowed a season-low four TD catches to receivers in 2025.

From RotoBaller

Jan 20 7:00pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs recorded his first touchdown of the postseason in his team's Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. However, the 32-year-old has posted underwhelming production overall so far this playoffs, hauling in six catches for 56 yards and a score on 11 targets across two games played. Diggs has also remained limited from a playing time perspective, playing 63% of New England's offensive snaps in the Wild Card Round against the Los Angeles Chargers and just 55% of the offensive snaps against Houston. While Diggs should get his chances in the AFC Championship Game, he may continue to struggle with efficiency. Denver finished the regular season ranked second among NFL defenses in yards per pass attempt allowed (6.1). The Broncos might also deploy All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II on Diggs, which could be problematic for the veteran wideout. Fantasy managers may want to be cautious with Diggs in the AFC Championship Game.

Jan 18 10:20pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs caught four of his six targets for 40 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans. The veteran receiver had a decent revenge game against his old team while helping the Patriots punch their ticket to the AFC Championship. Diggs has a solid 11 targets over his last two games, but his 56 yards during that span are a big step backward from the 282 yards he accrued over the final three weeks of the regular season. Fortunately for Diggs' managers and bettors, he salvaged his performance with the touchdown, delivering double-digit fantasy points (full-PPR) for the third time in his last five games. He'll likely carry a similar touchdown-dependent outlook into next week's matchup against a strong Denver defense. After all, the Broncos allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers during the regular season.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 16-of-27 passes for 179 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the AFC Divisional Round playoff game against the Houston Texans, advancing to face the Denver Broncos on the road in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 25. RB Rhamondre Stevenson (eye) returned to finish with 16 carries and 70 yards, while adding four receptions for 11 yards on four targets. Rookie RB TreVeyon Henderson had 12 runs for 25 yards, while adding a catch for minus-2 yards on two targets. WR Kayshon Boutte hauled in three receptions for a game-high 75 yards and a TD on five targets, with WR Stefon Diggs posted four receptions, 40 yards and a TD on a team-best six targets. WR DeMario Douglas also had two catches for 36 yards and a score, with TE Austin Hooper posting a 14-yard grab on two targets, TE Hunter Henry posting a 5-yard catch on two targets and CB Christian Gonzalez leading the team with nine total stops and six solo tackles with a pass defensed. CB Marcus Jones had two stops with two passes defensed and a 26-yard interception for touchdown.
